Our History
Founded in 1963 to address the mental health care needs of the New Hampshire and southern Maine Seacoast, Seacoast Mental Health Center (SMHC) is one of ten state-designated community mental health centers (CMHCs) in New Hampshire. As a CMHC, it is mandated to provide evaluation to children, adolescents and families, the elderly, and severely and persistently mentally ill regardless of their ability to pay. Governed by a board of directors, SMHC's mission is to provide a broad and comprehensive array of high quality, effective and accessible mental health services to residents of the Seacoast region.

Our Staff
SMHC is staffed with experienced and highly-qualified professionals trained in psychiatry, psychology, counseling, social work and nursing. Many of SMHC's staff members are recognized as leaders in their respective fields not only along the Seacoast, but across the state and nation.
